As part of the new BYO Laptop program, devices are required to perform certain functions, and support integration within the Department of Education's (DoE) infrastructure. Below are requirements that enable this.
Hardware
Student devices are expected to have modern hardware to allow software, most notably the Office 365 suite, to function. Families with students continuing to Corinda State High School should also consider slightly improved hardware for device longevity if continuing to use the laptop into high school; see the recommended specifications for this.
Minimum Specifications:
CPU: Intel Pentium, Intel Celeron, or AMD Athlon
RAM: 8Gb
Drive: 128Gb SSD
Graphics: None (Integrated)
Recommended Specifications
(Students Continuing to Corinda State High School):
CPU: Intel Core i5 (Ultra 5) or AMD Ryzen 5
RAM: 16Gb
Drive: 256Gb SSD
Graphics: None (Integrated)
Additionally, all devices are required to have Wi-Fi (5GHz capable), a headphone port, and an HDMI port. Student devices are also expected to last the school day without the need for supplemental charging; please take into account the size of the battery and expected battery life when purchasing a device.
Operating System:
Devices are required to run Windows 11 Home or Windows 11 Professional. Windows 11 Home in S Mode is not permitted as it's incompatible with the Department's infrastructure.
Accessories
Students will also be expected to have a 'ruggedized' laptop case or sleeve to accompany their device. This can also be purchased from our Partner Vendors under the 'Accessories' section.
Antivirus
Windows' integrated antivirus solution, Windows Security, is considered sufficient protection for BYO devices. Should you wish to use a third-party solution, Corinda State School takes no responsibility for ensuring functionality within EQ's digital environment.
