Corinda State School has been allocated a Guidance Officer for 1.5 days per week.
The Guidance Officer is situated in the Administration Block.
The Guidance Officer is one of members of the support team that addresses the special needs of the school community.
The duties are varied and defined by the particular needs that arise from the school community.
These include:
To support the school community in developing plans and programmes to assist students achieve their potential.
To administer psycho-educational assessments and make recommendations
To liaise with teachers and parents concerning educational, personal, social and emotional issue.
To work collaboratively with the school community to develop and implement programmes that foster overall well-being for students.
To work proactively and promote preventative strategies.
To advocate for students.
To provide counselling and support to students that promotes positive decision making about social, emotional and educational issues.
To participate in a multidisciplinary team within Education Queensland, other community agencies and professionals.
